GdA supports the exhibition: CACHEMIRE, IL SEGNO IN MOVIMENTO.
Organized by the Antonio Ratti’ Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Cernobbio and cured by Margherita Rosina and Francina Chiara, the exhibition, through about 150 pieces, presents a number of fragments of stories bound to the use of the Paisley motive, pointing to the influence it had on the contemporary design.
The chronological and thematic path of the exhibition wants to valorise the ancient fabrics of FAR’s collections and those moderns too, coming from companies of the Lario territory, including GdA, that, thanks to their historical archives, have interpreted in multiple ways an ancient and full of suggestions drawing, renewing it continuously.
In the exhibition, there will be Indian and European shawls, from the collection of Antonio Ratti, an industrialist in the field of the silk coming from Como, who made his passion for Paisley, his trademark: never seen before pieces, restored for the occasion.
The selection of clothing branches off from half of the 19th century to the contemporary age. Between the historical pieces, we find particularly interesting an evening mantle embroidered by Drecoll of 1907, a middle eastern velvet corsage of the end of the 19th century and a robe coming from the Vittoriale, belonged to Gabriele D’Annunzio.
A catalogue in English and Italian will be published for the Exhibition, filled with pictures of fabrics and original drawings by GdA.
The Exhibition will be held in the two locations of Villa Sucota, Como, and of Villa Bernasconi, Cernobbio, from the 18th June to the 18th September 2016.
The exhibition is open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
